After our wee stay at the Inn at Lathones we set off for St Andrews, we planned to check out the castle, cathedral and because of the trip adviser reviews the Swilcan Bridge. It ended up being a thoroughly damp day but we figured we might as well brave the weather since we were there, and it turned out kind of brilliant, for the most part we had the castle to ourselves, which was fun to explore the wells, which Dixon was sure I was going to drop my phone down into, (which someone had before us, in the last photo of a well you can see something blue) you also could head deep down into the mine. Which I will admit felt a wee bit claustrophobic at times, especially since you need to duck the whole way in.
We had a wee wander on the shore before heading up to the Cathedral, which is also in ruins but you can climb up a tower as well. The view was pretty amazing which would have probably improved if the rain had let up a wee bit, but it was still gorgeous. There were loads of interesting gravestones, and you know me a sucker for a good graveyard.
Finally we headed to the old course, because as people said in their reviews, 'I still have goosebumps thinking about getting my picture taken on the bridge'. Now I will have to admit that i am not a golfing fan in the slightest, and had never heard of the Swilcan Bridge before heading out there, so we were mostly just taking the piss a wee bit, but it was a lot of fun, and you could really tell people were genuinely excited to have their photo. So that was pretty cool. (Dixon is not actually as excited as he looks hehe)
St Andrews was lovely and I think I would definitely be back again, hopefully for a wee bit of better weather.
I learned for my mistake at the convention, I saved all of my snaps.
