Scottish Tattoo Convention 2015

The 5th Annual Scottish Tattoo convention was on the 28th and 29th of March, and since I now work for a tattoo studio, (did I not mention that, well I will expand on that soon!) I was working at it on the Saturday. I worked my other new job on the Sunday, so while working the booth I tried to make the most of seeing everyone who was working there. The people who were working the convention this year were totally amazing again, and I got to see some of my favourite people working. I had to exercise a lot of self control and save all my money when I was able to make my way around the show.

I am not working at Plus 48 Tattoo, in Edinburgh three days a week, and so I was assisting Kris while he did his large tattoo on the Saturday. So assisting entailed, setting up the table and station, getting inks and machines poured and set up respectively, and then being on hand for the 5 or so hours that it was going on to get them anything they might need.

I got to go round the show a couple times before the end of my day, and I bought a tiger print by the amazing Andrea Giulimondi, some patches on from Xam who was also amazing, and grabbed a butt load of stickers. I need to get a frame for my print but I love it and it was amazing watching the traditional hand tapped tattoos being done as well as seeing techniques that some of the other artists use. It was a great time.

Unfortunately my photos stink this year, and I will get better ones in the future, hopefully, when I go again! So see you next time STC 2016

The Scottish Tattoo Convention

Last weekend I got to go to the Scottish Tattoo Convention last Saturday, and I had a pretty brilliant time! I went with my pal Mhairi, and for all the practice I have had making sure I am taking photos of things, I totally did not take photos. I know, whats the point! Mhairi wanted to get a gap filler from someone, and I just wanted to see some amazing artists and get Paul Slifer's book. Unfortunately Mhairi didn't get tattooed, the people she liked were all booked up, though she did find some artists she really liked.
Unexpectedly an artist I really like was there, and while I was checking out his booth  I realized that he wasn't busy, so I ended up getting a tattoo by the fantastic Deno, you can find him on Facebook here and here. His stuff is amazing and I got my Narwhal I have been wanting for a wee while now. So all in all you can say I am pretty chuffed!
It was really cool watching the way he drew it from scratch and how he tattoos it was very very cool.

Safe to say I picked up a lot of business cards but it will be cool to look back and see some of the artists and I will actually know how to find them.

Dixon and Darren decided to stay home while me and Mhairi were out at the convention, so safe to say they were pretty hungover the next day, but nothing like a wee trip through the Tesco clothes section to make you feel better.

I did get Paul Slifer's book, but my picture of it is rubbish so that will have to come another day.
