Oban

So as I was saying last time, we made it to Oban safe and sound Saturday afternoon, we were thinking of heading out to the Scottish Sea Life Sanctuary, but as it turned out, it was actually outside Oban and after all of that driving we just decided to stop, park the car and wander along the shore. So we found free parking and made our way to the shore, and Oban did not disappoint. It was every bit as gorgeous as I was led to believe from Dixon and my numerous google searches. And as we were walking we made plans to head up to McCaig's Tower just perched at the top of Battery Hill and then have a wee look to see if we would be able to find somewhere to stay, because as gorgeous as the drive in was some of those roads were tiny. So we thought it would be better if Dixon didn't have to drive 4 more hours that day. So more with McCaig's Tower next time.
Also as we walked along I saw my first jellyfish, I was pretty excited but luckily for you I am only sharing 4 photos.

Road Trip

This weekend past was our 5 year anniversary, oh how time flies, so we decided to pack up the car take a wee overnight bag and head out to the west coast and perhaps stay in Oban for the night. We definitely lucked out for the weather, the drive was gorgeous and only his a tiny bit of rain just past our first stopping point at Loch Lubnaig, which was a gorgeous loch where you could fish and just further from our stopping point you could camp and get some hot food. But other than a wee pit stop there to stretch the legs, we headed further North West and stopped for food at Cruachan the Hollow Mountain. Where the panini's are extremely expensive, but ultimately satisfying, it was worth the stop as Loch Awe was gorgeous. And as we slowly made our way through the highlands the signs started showing their Gaelic roots and the name places were reflecting that. An t-Òban was only 38 miles away!
So not long now through Glen Ogle where we spotted the railway viaduct from the 1860's. I was pretty snap happy all the way along the journey so I have tried to wittle down my photos to a mere 16 or so and leave with with a wee taste as we made it to Oban safe and sound.

Cathlyn and Stephen Visit

We have had a pretty blustery summer this year. I mean in Edinburgh you can almost count on there being a little bit of rain each day, but, usually by now we have had some proper good weather. And normally when I have people visiting it is good weather. At least it wasn't terrible for the day we decided to climb Arthur's Seat, and even though the wind was super strong, it probably kept me from sweating bucketloads. So by this point Cathlyn and Stephen had been in Edinburgh for about a week and a half. And with the weather looking a little bit up what better time to climb the hill (Mountain).

I haven't climbed this guy for about five years, I know I have gone part ways up for Bonfire Night a few years ago but have ony properly gone up to the summit once, and that was with my dad just before Dixon and I got married. I believe I am in better shape this time for the climb though we did take it a bit easier and avoided almost all of the goat paths. It was a beautiful climb, and Edinburgh looked gorgeous up there with wildflowers and wild life to spot. We saw a small bird of prey hunting up there and managed to get a few shots of it while it was stationary in the air looking for prey. I think it was a Kestral but I could be wrong, google didn't help too much when I was looking for birds of prey within Edinburgh.

Climbing Arthurs Seat might need to be on my to do list more often than once every 5 years, but it was great to do it again, so without further ado, the pictures.

We also went to the zoo, so I should have some pictures of that soon too, I took some on film as well but we will have to see when we are going to get those developed, I forgot to put my SD card in my digital so the next post will probably be iPhone pictures, so hopefully I got a few good ones.
