Scottish Tattoo Convention

The Scottish Tattoo Convention has just been, and it was loads of fun! Loads of artists from all over came, tons of locals representing Scotland and people from Italy, America and all over Europe were tattooing and getting tattooed. I took tons of photos, on snapchat, haha so these are the ones I remembered to save while snapping.

Kris tattooed on the Saturday, I expected him to only do one tattoo and ended up doing four, so that kept me busy in the later hours, but we had loads of fun at our booth, even if it is a bit hectic working in such a smaller space than you are used to.

Dominika was tattooing on the Sunday, she ended up working all day on a massive calf piece, It was really cool watching that all come together, and I ended up getting a tattoo from DAP, out of Skingdom in Italy. All day Saturday I kept seeing the line drawing of this chameleon and I loved it so I ended up getting it. I also entered my leg in for best small black and grey by Dominika, which was an interesting experience as well.

All around it was a great show and I wish I saved more of my photos of other artists working but it was all so hectic I must have forgotten.

Dixon was also lovely and was repping my new stickers on his board!

Scottish Tattoo Convention Preparedness Week

The Scottish Tattoo Convention is this weekend and I am getting pretty excited, I have a wee bit of merch this year, I managed to have stickers printed and prints from one of my paintings for sale. The stickers came in yesterday on regular paper sized sheets so I had a fun night of cutting those wee guys out over and over and over. The painting I managed to sort out on Monday, but if I were more on the ball, I might have had a bit less of a frantic week this past week. I had been thinking about doing a painting for the convention since about November, but I only actually started painting it around the 14th of March, I know I am pretty good at procrastination right! But it worked out, I finished my painting and found a printers in Edinburgh to make me prints, so look out convention here I come!

We bit of my progress shots of the painting slowly but surely coming together.

Also a wee bit excited that I sad I would post and look at me here I am posting!

David Bailey

Gail and I went to the David Bailey exhibition at the National Gallery the week before last, and it was brilliant, it was amazing the people he met and knew. And of course the photos were stunning, I had a lovely day with Gal looking at everything, I always enjoy a good exhibition. It was unbelievable to me that he knew and was personally invited to things by the Krays, and was friends with Andy Warhol and Salvador Dali. I surreptitiously took a few photos of some of my favourites.

Edinburgh Fringe 2015

This festival season seemed to fly by, of course August is busy for Dixon and I normally with our anniversary, Island of Punk, and the Rebellion Festival, this year though I only did 1 out of those three and it still flew by so I only managed to see three things this year at the festival.

The festival opened this year with the Harmonium Project, which was accompanied by coral singing, it was extremely busy and if you could get a second where you weren't being pushed and could take a moment to enjoy it it was gorgeous. A few of us from the studio went out to it together.

Secondly Hayley Gail and I went to see Nick Helm's Can Somebody For the Love of God Please Make All of This Pain and Misery Go Away (Work In Progress), which was great, Nick Helm is always funny, we saw him last year as well. But this show was a lot more understated than the year before. A lot less explosions and sparkle suits but still just as fun. We even managed a wee photo with him before the show, so we all three got a photo with him. He was really nice about it.

And to close out the festival I just managed to see Trainspotting live with Beth, which was as funny as it was intense, I managed to grab a few photos of the rave that opened the show, I don't know how they managed to act after going that mental for that long, and a wee photo of the sets grafitti. It was so well done, Im glad we managed to make it to it.

And so that was my fesitval this year, hopefully next year I will have gotten to some more shows and be working slightly less hours.

Cathlyn and Stephen Visit

We have had a pretty blustery summer this year. I mean in Edinburgh you can almost count on there being a little bit of rain each day, but, usually by now we have had some proper good weather. And normally when I have people visiting it is good weather. At least it wasn't terrible for the day we decided to climb Arthur's Seat, and even though the wind was super strong, it probably kept me from sweating bucketloads. So by this point Cathlyn and Stephen had been in Edinburgh for about a week and a half. And with the weather looking a little bit up what better time to climb the hill (Mountain).

I haven't climbed this guy for about five years, I know I have gone part ways up for Bonfire Night a few years ago but have ony properly gone up to the summit once, and that was with my dad just before Dixon and I got married. I believe I am in better shape this time for the climb though we did take it a bit easier and avoided almost all of the goat paths. It was a beautiful climb, and Edinburgh looked gorgeous up there with wildflowers and wild life to spot. We saw a small bird of prey hunting up there and managed to get a few shots of it while it was stationary in the air looking for prey. I think it was a Kestral but I could be wrong, google didn't help too much when I was looking for birds of prey within Edinburgh.

Climbing Arthurs Seat might need to be on my to do list more often than once every 5 years, but it was great to do it again, so without further ado, the pictures.

We also went to the zoo, so I should have some pictures of that soon too, I took some on film as well but we will have to see when we are going to get those developed, I forgot to put my SD card in my digital so the next post will probably be iPhone pictures, so hopefully I got a few good ones.
