August, Thus Far

So its been a rather exciting week, first of all Blackpool and the rebellion festival, second, moved into our new place, third it was mine and Dixon's anniversary on the 16th and we also got very exciting parcels! Now normally I would split this up into a couple of different posts, but knowing me you would never hear about any of it so its going to be a monster of a post today!
Blackpool was really good again, its just really nice to get away and only  think about what band you want to see next, should I have another pint, ah go on, I'll have another pint! And we ended up seeing basically every band that we set out to see. So that was really good! Unfortunately I got really sick on the Saturday, we went for a Chinese and just after I finished eating I really needed to be sick so I walked extremely quickly back to the B&B and made it up to the room and then threw up for then next couple hours! Luckily there were no bands me or Dixon wanted to see so he stayed with me and we watched crap telly til we fell asleep. Cause Sunday was the best day, it was basically band after band after band that was great! We got to see The Stitches and they were awesome, bought all the merch! and when we came back for the Adolescents (yay!) we met the guitarist and singer! One of Dixon's favourite bands so it was really fun!
We didn't see too much of Blackpool, just a bit of the promenade but it was really windy so we just bought some rock and went back.

We got back on the Monday and had a bit of a lazy day and we both took the Tuesday off so I finished sanding and staining the chest of drawers for the bedroom and that night we moved in! So it was all very exciting until about nine at night when after a weekend of feeling a bit dodgy turned into a 9 hour puking marathon, so I got no sleep our first night in but on the bright side if we hadn't moved in yet I would have had to run up and down stairs all night to make it to the toilet on time so whooo hoo new house! So I had to stay home from work on my first day back from holidays, but at least I caught up on my sleep and slept all day, Dixon however started to feel ill on the Thursday night just when I was starting to recover. So he stayed home from work Friday, our anniversary!
So it was a romantic first week in our new home but we are still pretty excited to be in the house!

And the exciting parcels, well I got the one I was waiting for from my Grandma, she sent us an amazing afghan blanket she made, it has a tartan pattern, and I can't believe how awesome it is, a scarf for me and a wooden box for Dixon, and some sweets I have missed and the peppermints were a godsend for my upset stomach this week! Made me miss them loads, now I just need to get my hands on some Wilhemina Peppermints! An the other parcel was from Sarah, who is amazing as well, she stood in line for hours 7 if I am correct, to get a signed copy of Neil Gaiman's new book The Ocean at the End of The Lane and a surprise signing of The Sandman; Preludes and Nocturns! So excited!!!

If you've made it this far, congratulations! It has been a brilliant week for me even with all the sickness! Hopefully more regular updates, August is usually a pretty hectic month for me so ttfn!

Just Quick

Its that time of year again, me and Dixon are heading down to Blackpool tomorrow for Rebellion Festival. Hopefully all of the bands I want to see turn up and we see all of them this time. Either way it is always a laugh!
Perhaps I will remember to take more pictures this time and have more to share than some drunken tales.

The house is definitely live-in-able now, so once we are back we should be in! I hope we will see. There seems to always be something lurking on the horizon pushing the move in day further and further back.

So just a quick on today and some random pictures too.

Our new pal the fly trap!

Inverleith Park

So I am not always working on my flat, sometimes I do other stuff too. Its been a long process getting the place sorted so it is nice to have a bit of time with friends and enjoy myself.
Mhairi and I got to hang out when she came through from Troon and we went for a walk round Inverleith Park, she also took me to DFS to look at sofas, unfortunately didn't find anything that I liked through there, stuff I didn't mind, but nothing I wanted to be paying for,f or 4 years. But I haven't walked through Inverleith Park before so it was really nice to get out and enjoy the fresh air and walk with her doggy!

The house is coming along really well, we are so close to moving in, it is really exciting. Almost everything is done, we need something to sit on in the living room, but the bedroom, we just need to put up the curtains today, and the shower screen in the bathroom, and we will basically be set. Still more to do obviously, but we should be able to live there. I kinda think that we could have last week but that's just me so I will leave it at that.

Anyway enough about the house, here's some photos of the swan/duck pond in Inverleith Park.

Bedroom Carpets, Check

Everything is coming along so fast now a week ago we weren't sure when we would move in and now it is looking like we can move in this week, even from these pictures taken just a couple days ago, things are moving so fast. Now the bedroom carpet is in, and the bed has been built up. Even the cupboard/vanitey closet is finished, I jsut don't have a picture yet, because everything just keeps moving. Its really nice now to be able to see what we have, now that it is all coming together. The wardrobes are new, they are a bit bigger than the ones we got off of Freecycle, but I don't need to sand or stain them, so it is kind of worth it, plus we will use the other one in the spare room.

So even more than this has changed, we were painting the kitchen yesterday, and Gordon papered  the closet in the bedroom, and its all coming together. I met Hayley for a drink and some lunch in the afternoon and you wouldn't believe all they had finished while I was gone. On my way home, I walked and found a new bathroom cabinet, so missing the bus was totally worth it. That should do way better than the one we have, I will have to remember to take a picture of the bathroom, the way it is now. We aren't planning on doing it up just now, but in the future it will be good to have a reference of what it used to look like.
Can't beat a good find!

I am going to head over today to hopefully finish up the kitchen, get the ceiling finished and the walls done over with their final coat. Should be exciting. So thats all for now.

Almost There

So the Carpets are in! Well most of the carpets, we have the hall and living room finished! Which is awesome, only the hall part of the carpet has a snag and a bald bit, so we will have to see what they are going to do about that. I wish that just one part of this house would come off without a hitch, but obviously that is not going to happen. Still everything is looking great, all of the hall wallpaper is up, and most of the carpets are down, we have a new fridge, and wardrobes, so that means I do not need to sand down wardrobes  so that they are the right colour! Whoooo! So by Thursday we will have our other carpet in and perhaps be able to move in soon.
The living room carpet looks awfully pink in the photos, but it is closer to the one with the hall carpet in it too, a darker purple. Either way, Dixon picked the carpet so if its a bit pink its ok. I am pretty excited about how it turned out. And I love the hall carpet, I wasn't sure about it in the store, but with the wallpaper we picked, it all look really good together. Dixon also got hardwood flooring for the entrance, and put that in too. I have never seen somewhere with a floor that is sunk down so you can have your matt in the floor, but here has it and it looks really good now that it is not the linoleum thing it was before. Now we just need Weclome matt and our house will be complete! Mostly complete.

Also I am looking to change my template, so if anyone knows where I can find a good one, I am not brilliant at HTML so I can't really do it myself. I used to have one I liked and now I don't know where I got it or why I changed it. So if someone knows how to do this it would be nice to have a change again.

Sanding In the Sun

So a whole weekend of work on the flat, for me turned out to be a whole lot of sanding. You would think with an electric sander it would have been a breeze, oh but no, that bed frame had all the nooks and crannies in the world! For Gordon and Dixon it meant wallpaper and lots of it. The did the ceiling and some of the hall, and the hall is a pretty big undertaking, its basically two stories on the stairs and they basically got that finished, so its pretty cool! Its all coming together and now that it is getting a bit more finished and polished looking it is really becoming a home.

And here it is, the bane of my existence! It wasn't really that bad, but it did take ages especially the legs and that cut section on the front of it, on the Saturday I didn't use gloves to get into the cracks and it probably worked better, but I definitely have sore fingers and almost no nail left on my index fingers. But hopefully it will be all worth it. Plus it was beautiful out, so I couldn't really complain, I got an excellent sunburn on Sunday just to show how gorgeous it was!

And this is what Gordon and Daniel were working on, the ceiling is papered in the first picture and painted Daniels favorite colour, Magnolia! It was a bit hard to get a good picture of the paper, with the lights on or off and the sun! So you will have to make due with what ya got! I am pretty excited how it is turning out!

I couldn't help getting a bunch of apps for my new phone so here's a picture just playing around with some of them.

I'm Back

So it's been a wee while now, and we have done loads to the house wallpaper is up in the bedroom and living room, the coving is up in the hall bedroom and living room, and hopefully we will be getting carpets this weekend. So the moving in date is creeping closer and closer.
I had a whole bunch of action shots of the building process but we won't dwell on the past, I now have a new phone so we will be getting new photos! So in a way it's exciting, I am just excited to be able to show off the brilliant work that is being done in my house.

My pals dog came and visited me at the shop and tried out her first skateboard! She's so cute!
