Corstorphine Hill

So I thought the post from yesterday would have been my last post for June, but as it turns out it was gorgerous yesterday, and I went for an amazing walk. I noticed last time I walked past Corstorphine Hill that there was a sign post for Corstorphine Tower, which I hadn't heard of. And with a little digging, I found out a wee bit more about it on the Friends of Corstorphine Hill website. So I like to go and explore wee things in Edinburgh that I have never seen before, and I was surprised to find one of the best views of the city I have ever seen, and Zebras (definitely really excited about zebras!) and the tower itself, and a walled garden. Plus there is so much more up there you wouldn't believe.

I didn't take any photos of the walled garden on my phone, but I definitely took at least one with the Pentax. But by that time I had been walking for two hours, so I really just needed a wee sit down with my apple and read my book for a wee bit.

Now I took a bunch of photos with my Pentax, so hopefully I have some slightly better shots of everything with that once I get those photos developed, if not the old iPhone 4 will have to do.

I've made a new tag for the posts, Secret Edinburgh, which are things that I have found off the beaten track if you wanted to look further, I should have most of my finds tagged today.

Walking to Stockbridge

I need to pull up my socks with this blogging business, I have had these pictures ready since last weekend, when I went for a huge walk. I took my Pentax as well but I have yet to get it developed.

So this is from my house to St Bernard's Well in between Stockbridge and the Dean Bridge on the Water of Leith. There are so many small bits of Edinburgh hidden away that I haven't ever seen. I definitely need to go back to St Bernard's Well because they open it up to the public every Sunday in August, and it looks gorgeous inside.

I have been walking more and more consistently lately which has been good, it makes me feel way better if not a bit sleepy by the end of the day. But all in all I think that it is a really good thing that I am keeping it up especially on my days off. Anyway hope you enjoy the pictures as much as I enjoyed my walk.

I have also bought some new art supplies so hopefully you will something from that soon!

November So Far

So I have been pretty quiet this November, not that I haven't been up to anything, just haven't'e gotten around to posting anything up here. And I was making such progress in October, there were loads of posts. Anyway here is November so far, in pictures.
They have started setting up the Winter Village, it is meant to be a little bit different this year, for one thing, the Big Wheel is not in its normal place and it is not the same big wheel. It is amazing how fast they can build it though! The Christmas tree they were putting up as well was huge! I will have to see when they are turning on the lights, but It will be impressive!

I havne't been up to too much drawing lately, but I have been doing some wee sketches, here are some poppies I was attempting the other day.

And finally, I nipped into the National Museum and they have a brilliant Kabuki exhibit on right now. I have to say it is amazing, the Museum usually is! I will need to go back soon and check it out again. I only got to look at it over my lunch break. Maybe I could have a wee wander around the rest of it as well!

Cramond 2013

Its that time of year again and the Island of Punk is upon us, I didn't take as many photos with the Holga this year as I did last year, but more with my iPhone so at least I have some It wasn't as nice and clear and warm this time as the last few years, but it was dry and that made it brilliant. We also were not as prepared this year as last, but I blame Mhairi and Darren, cause they didn't come this year so we didn't put the effort in with the BBQ and everything. Still though I got pretty steamin and had a wee nap and in general had a brilliant time! So can't really complain. The Island of Punk is always a good time.

Dixon also played in the Fuk Redding festival down in London the Day after Cramond so I got some painting done, nothing I can show the whole thing of though I am probably giving away too much already but I am pretty excited that I did some painting at all! So what the heck! Just one more painting to go for Counting at the Zoo and then I can send the last batch off!

Sanding In the Sun

So a whole weekend of work on the flat, for me turned out to be a whole lot of sanding. You would think with an electric sander it would have been a breeze, oh but no, that bed frame had all the nooks and crannies in the world! For Gordon and Dixon it meant wallpaper and lots of it. The did the ceiling and some of the hall, and the hall is a pretty big undertaking, its basically two stories on the stairs and they basically got that finished, so its pretty cool! Its all coming together and now that it is getting a bit more finished and polished looking it is really becoming a home.

And here it is, the bane of my existence! It wasn't really that bad, but it did take ages especially the legs and that cut section on the front of it, on the Saturday I didn't use gloves to get into the cracks and it probably worked better, but I definitely have sore fingers and almost no nail left on my index fingers. But hopefully it will be all worth it. Plus it was beautiful out, so I couldn't really complain, I got an excellent sunburn on Sunday just to show how gorgeous it was!

And this is what Gordon and Daniel were working on, the ceiling is papered in the first picture and painted Daniels favorite colour, Magnolia! It was a bit hard to get a good picture of the paper, with the lights on or off and the sun! So you will have to make due with what ya got! I am pretty excited how it is turning out!

I couldn't help getting a bunch of apps for my new phone so here's a picture just playing around with some of them.
