Corstorphine Hill

So I thought the post from yesterday would have been my last post for June, but as it turns out it was gorgerous yesterday, and I went for an amazing walk. I noticed last time I walked past Corstorphine Hill that there was a sign post for Corstorphine Tower, which I hadn't heard of. And with a little digging, I found out a wee bit more about it on the Friends of Corstorphine Hill website. So I like to go and explore wee things in Edinburgh that I have never seen before, and I was surprised to find one of the best views of the city I have ever seen, and Zebras (definitely really excited about zebras!) and the tower itself, and a walled garden. Plus there is so much more up there you wouldn't believe.

I didn't take any photos of the walled garden on my phone, but I definitely took at least one with the Pentax. But by that time I had been walking for two hours, so I really just needed a wee sit down with my apple and read my book for a wee bit.

Now I took a bunch of photos with my Pentax, so hopefully I have some slightly better shots of everything with that once I get those photos developed, if not the old iPhone 4 will have to do.

I've made a new tag for the posts, Secret Edinburgh, which are things that I have found off the beaten track if you wanted to look further, I should have most of my finds tagged today.

Junes Recap

So this post is mostly a photo dump of what I have been up to lately, I just haven't been focuses on gettting stuff up here, maybe I need to do another 100 Days Happy and then I will definitely get my posts up! We will see about that. I think that is the second post of June, better late than never! So lets recap my June!

So Dixon and I did some DIY in the house, our spare room was slowly just filling with clutter and he really wants it to start to look nice, I am not too fussed by having our spare room look good just yet, I mean we don't have any planned house guests as of yet... Anyway it was still really nice to accomplish something, though it was gorgeous outside and I really would have rather been working outside than in. But you can't have everything!

Caryn's friend came over with her friend, so I got to show them around a little bit, and we went to Mary Kings Close, and she also brought with her a fantastic Care Package from my lovely sisters. Which included Tim Horton's cappuccino mix, which I am having right now, Lego, an excellent original drawing by my niece and a picture of the mentioned niece, as well as a hand egg beater! The beater would make sense if you knew the back story. Anyway we had an excellent day out, though I probably talked to much, I always forget what I know about places if you were to ask me, but seeing them and walking down the streets it all comes back. So hopefully I didn't talk their ears off.

An thus ended the Lego drought of 2014, well actually Dixon, the best husband ever, also surprised me with some Lego, I came home from work one day and there at the top of the stairs was ECTO 1 the new Ghostbusters Lego set, and let me say I was ecstatic!

Summer is really here, and it seems to be staying, fingers crossed! Which means lunch in Princes Gardens, bees on flowers and relocation of large eight legged visitors from the house, he was huge!!!

And as well as being productive in the house I have been a bit productive with my drawing and painting, here is a new one from the semi sort of series of landscape style drawings I have been doing, and I started painting the first one. I like it in the Black and Grey, but I think that I will probably still paint it in colour. Still deciding.

And so that has been my June, its been pretty excellent so far, all the ups and downs you would expect from me, though I have mostly just highlighted the ups here, to recap the downs, the DIY went well except for one bit fell off, but thats totally fixable, so we will hopefully get on that soon, I applied for a new job, but unfortuantely it was given to someone else after an extremely successful trial, but I think that I'll be ok and hopefully I will find another opportunity, I think thats all of the downs, so lets end on an exciting up! Tunnoks Tea Cakes are vegetarian! I had my first one this week haha!

Walking to Stockbridge

I need to pull up my socks with this blogging business, I have had these pictures ready since last weekend, when I went for a huge walk. I took my Pentax as well but I have yet to get it developed.

So this is from my house to St Bernard's Well in between Stockbridge and the Dean Bridge on the Water of Leith. There are so many small bits of Edinburgh hidden away that I haven't ever seen. I definitely need to go back to St Bernard's Well because they open it up to the public every Sunday in August, and it looks gorgeous inside.

I have been walking more and more consistently lately which has been good, it makes me feel way better if not a bit sleepy by the end of the day. But all in all I think that it is a really good thing that I am keeping it up especially on my days off. Anyway hope you enjoy the pictures as much as I enjoyed my walk.

I have also bought some new art supplies so hopefully you will something from that soon!

Back to the Basics

So I haven't been posting much lately, maybe I burnt myself out with the 100 Happy Days posts, because I was posting at least once, but usually twice a week when I was doing those. But what else can I say, it is not as if I have been up to nothing, Dixon's birthday was a big one, and we had a brilliant time. I've gone out for meals, and been to shows, but I haven't felt compelled to write any of it down lately. So here we are getting back to some of my blogging basics, maybe.
I have been doing a bit of re-evalutating what I want to be doing with my life, because as nice as it is working in a skateboard shop, so components of that have been stressing me out. So each day off I have had, I have been trying to get back into drawing and painting. Which has actually happened so yay!
Perhaps a recap another day of what I have been up to, for now some drawings.

The first is from a Dr Sketchy's Edinburgh class I recently went to and I am hopefully going to another one next week, which should be as much fun as that, and the rest of the sketches are just for fun. The painting is from a drawing a did a wee while ago, but I have wanted to paint it for ages.

Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum

So I totally forgot I had these pictures from when Hayley and I went to Glasgow ages ago, or it feels like ages ago. But we went to the Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum and out to dinner afterwards. And I usually say that I do not like Glasgow, and it feels like any other city in the world to me, but I think I have been a little unfair, because I haven't really been out to the city center before. Kelvingrove, was really impressive, and the park after where I took no photos was beautiful as well. So I have to take that all back.

I probably could have taken way more photos inside of the place, but I was not feeling great that day. A wee hangover to say the least but that doesn't take away from the pictures I did get. I am a bit rusty at this blogging business, so hopefully my next post is a bit better, anyway, enjoy the pictures.

We went to the Lebanese after and it was actually really disappointing, after having amazing Lebanese food at Beirut in Edinburgh, it just did not compare, and was so not worth the voucher Hayley bought. So if you are in Glasgow, don't go there.
