Birthday

I made it just in time to talk about 2013, its been a crazy couple weeks and I should have had about eight posts up here, but unfortunately work and loads of fun has kept me away. So I have a few things to cover but mainly today I wanted to talk about my birthday!

It actually kind of started the day before, Dixon had a gig with the Cyanide Pills, and it turned out to be an awesome night, they were brilliant. And at 12 people sang me happy birthday, it was excellent! Dixon had drank half the singers bottle of brandy though so he was pretty pished and we left pretty shortly after that. But Still an amazing night, Dixon got a record and a T Shirt and they gave me a bag and some badges! So that was really cool of them.

Now the plan of action for the next day was that Hayley was taking me on a Ghost Bus Tour, that I was really excited about, it was an old style double decker bus with lamps and stuff on the tables. And Dixon was going to go out for a drink with Shaun and maybe meet us after. But on the way he showed me a reservation for David Bann, I was so surprised and excited, I have wanted to go their since being a vegetarian. And it did not disappoint. Everything I had was brilliant from the cocktails to the dinner to the atmosphere, it was perfect and I could not stop smiling. Hayley evev went a step further and brought cupcakes down to the restaurant and they lit them with a 25 on them and brought them over. It was a brilliant night.

So if that wasn't enough I also was spoiled with presents, Dixon got me an amazing new set of Creepers, and a build it yourself SLR Camera, which as you can see below, I didn't wait one second to open it and start building! Hayley got me some of my favorites, pajamas and socks, the best of gifts as well as the Jelly Bellys and Candle which smells amazing. Gail and Gordon we awesome and got me a new hairdryer and straighteners because both of my old ones were old and dying and perhaps a bit dangerous!

Plus I got to have amazing phone calls from Camille Caryn Mom and Marsha, and messages from James Tina and Payton.

and Lea, giving me the Stink Eye, for my birthday.
So best Birthday yet all around. Bring on 2014.

Advent Calendar

Christmas is coming and we are getting in the spirit! Town is getting busier, the days are getting shorter and I still do not have my Christmas tree up, I am hoping we can get up into our attic to get it down this week, cause I really want to put it up! Dixon says its too early, but I still want to!! So to tide me over until we do get our tree up I got myself an Advent Calendar and made on for Dixon! Lego and Beers!

Dixon has even opened the windows, and not all at once like I know some people do with their advent calendars, total self control!

So its been a busy week for parcels coming as well, not just through the door but picking them up and paying customs charges, hopefully everything will make it here on time. One package that I got came from Camille and Caryn, with a post card from Lea! It was full of amazing things, including a Batsign and a National Geographic, I really should get a subscription!

And we also got our couches! Finally! They were supposed to be at the house late Friday evening, but because of the horrible weather on Thursday, winds in excess of 80 mph, the truck was stuck in Glasgow, but they eventually made it and it is awesome to have something to sit on!

So its a lot of this and that, but hopefully soon I will have my Christmas tree up and more adventures to share with you!

St Andrews Day

I was St Andrews Day on the 30th, the official national day of Scotland and because of that many historic sites throughout Scotland were celebrating with free entrance, which Hayley and I took full advantage of! The Palace of Holyroodhouse was our main destination but we got sidetracked a couple of times, first in the Museum of Edinburgh  which had just been refitted, we probably could have spent a whole lot longer in there but unfortunately we didn't have the schedule for that. We did catch a rather informative wee video outlining Edinburgh's history, which was very good, as well as the plans for the New Town, and bits on how people lived and I especially liked the feature on Greyfriars Bobby.

So we made it to the Palace of Holyroodhouse, where we took as many pictures as were allowed and some that weren't. Hayley was a lot more ballsy with the photos than me. I was glad though that I got the audio tour, I have never gotten one of those before, but I think I definitely will from now on. I would not have known so much more about what we were looking at. It is totally worth it.

So the Palace of Holyroodhouse joins onto Holyrood Abbey and it was spectacular inside and out.

We then stopped at the Kirk of the Canongate because we could see a Churchyard/Graveyard and wondered where the entrance was and it turned out the symbol above the church of the Stag with the crucifix between its antlers was part of many tales of King David and the Stag that we heard loads about in the Palace of Holyrood.

And to finish off the day we had sushi from Bonsai, Hayley got a brilliant deal from Groupon and the food was amazing!

So it was a brilliant day celebrating Scotland and all it has to offer!
Hopefully you saw the Google Doodle, it was brilliant!

I know I know, I don't write for ages and then bam massive post, but there was so much to see along the way it was incredible, and it turned out to be a beautiful crisp day to be out in. So I hope you enjoyed St Andrews day as much as I did!

Edinburgh Light Night

It the Christmas Light Night ceremony this weekend and I got to go. Hayley and I went to the Stand comedy club again for a free lunch time show of basically Whose Line is it Anyway first, and then had a wee coffee, and then joined the festivities. I maybe should have taken some pictures of George Street, because they had about 8 stages, where different groups and schools were putting on performances each, and I don't think I have ever seen anywhere that full of people, except for maybe a concert. So that was really nice to wander down the street watching bits and bobs from different people until the main stage was ready.

They sang some Christmas songs and then the countdown was on for the lights coming on, and fireworks too. It was really nice and you did feel full of the Christmas Spirit afterward. We also walked up to the Christmas tree to take photo of that with the Winter Village in the background. I do need to work on my timing for the Fireworks, I got way more of smoke than of the actual fire!
