Baby Steps

My apprenticeship escalated quite quckly last week, I started tattooing oranges, which is a lot of fun Oranges are quite willing victims. They never complain, they smell great, the only awkward thing they do is they like to roll away if you don't keep a firm grip on them.

From there, on Saturday I tattooed myself! It was just as much fun as I remembered, but this time I did actually enjoy it once the adrenaline calmed down and I could think more clearly about what I was doing, the initial lines were pretty sore! It was also fairly awkward the way I needed to sit, and my clip cord kept catching on the cling film, so if I do something like that in that position again I will thoroughly cover the arm rest with paper.

Now just to decide if I like it black and grey or if I want to add some colour.

June Drawings

As I said in my last post, I have been drawing, and quite a bit too. The top one is based on the stories of Baba Yaga, and Dominika helped me with the Russian Cyrillic. I am hopefully going to start painting the kiwi this week as well as the koala paw. I am really excited how the paw came out as I took the reference photo a couple weeks ago when Hayley and I went to the zoo. The paw just looked perfect for drawing. And the mole makes sense if you know Kris, its part of his nickname, and it was his birthday. So here are a few different things I have been working on from india ink, to just plain sketches, and watercolours, I have been a wee bit busy with it.

I am also on instagram and I post my drawing more semi regularly there so if you want to find me there it is @courtenaydickson, but if semi monthly is enough for you don't worry, so far it looks like I am keeping to that schedule!

Oh ya and I promised an update on my tattoo,

Oh Totoro

A couple weeks ago, I got my elbow tattooed, it has been niggling at me for a while and it is finally filled and with a character I have been hoping to get for a while too! So I knew I wanted a Totoro and I knew I wanted an elbow tattoo, boom, match made in heaven! So Kris at Plus 48 Tattoo (my boss at my work) graciously and wonderfully did that for me. The elbow wasn't as bad as I bigged it up in my head, but for not having been tattooed in two years I think I did rather well. Its nearly healed now so maybe some healed pics in the next post ( I know planning a next post, if I am to be believed).

I have been doing a bunch of drawing too, so that will be in the next post!
I promise!

Dixon's Birthday

I would start again by saying how behind I am, but you already know this current trend for this year, so this is going to be about Dixon birthday which was nearly two whole months ago, but it will make sense as his present was only completed a month ago, see not as behind as I might have said.

Oh what to get for the man who buys himself most of the things he wants, How about a little bit of pain and permanent marking, that seemed to be right up his street, so this year he got his chest tattooed for his birthday. My lovely new boss Kris at Plus 48 Tattoo did this amazing Americana style eagle snapping a skateboard in half. We did it over two sessions thus why it was an extended gift. It was strange to see Dixon in pain for some of it but thats what getting tattooed entails, but it looks am

Our Living Room

It has been called to my attention that after all of our hard work on our house I have really only showed progress pictures of the living room and never the fully finished deal, I still have a few bits and bobs that I want to put up and add to but for the most part we have really turned our little home around and our living room really s a place we both like to be in and relax. So to the best of my ability I got some photos all realtor style, but I am really proud of how it has all come out in the end. Everything from the Batman, and Ghostbusters prints to the oak units, I just rally like how its come together, once I have the final bits and pieces up I will try to remember to post them here too, but for now, here it is our living room.
