The Inn at Lathones

Dixon and I managed to get ourselves a wee getaway last weekend, it was really nice to be able to just leisurely leave in the afternoon for our hotel and know that then next day was for sightseeing. So we booked ourselves in at the Inn at Lathones, it looked pretty close to St Andrews but a wee bit remote. So just tucked away in the hills we found ourselves checking into a free upgrade! I had never had that before so instead of the standard double, we got a king and a much larger room, and the bath had jets!! Included in the room was £15 each towards our evening meal and breakfast, so we settled ourselves down in front of the fire and had a gin and tonic and a beer while we waited for dinner. Which was also lovely. The Inn itself was featured in the ghost stories book I have in the photo below, it stated in there that the inn dated back to before 1718 where the owner of the inn was married, but his wife died at the inn and him shortly after, there were a couple other bits, but what I found interesting was the stone above the heart had inscribed their initials and the date, so at least that wall was from 1718.

From here we made our way to St Andrews, but I took so many photos, that will have to be in the ext post.

March Recap

This year is flying by! I didn't think I was too busy in March with the convention coming up I was really focused on preparing for that getting stickers made and finishing my painting to make into prints. But now that I think of it, that is only half of the month and I haven't posted about some of my favourite tattoos I have done. Samantha's Frankenstien('s monster) Andrew's hermit crab Kelly's owl skull, loads of fun ones from March. Not to mention some reworks, Jenny came in with Just lines and we did an hour on that, and Mim came in to have her chest reworked, so we added some wings and recoloured all of that. Loads of fun with those two. I must have deleted my photo of Mim's chest as it was, and I think we have one more session to go on the backround, but I will not be able to post a side by side of them now. But loads of fun this month.

If you are interested in my prints I have set up a bandcamp for it, check that out here.

Scottish Tattoo Convention

The Scottish Tattoo Convention has just been, and it was loads of fun! Loads of artists from all over came, tons of locals representing Scotland and people from Italy, America and all over Europe were tattooing and getting tattooed. I took tons of photos, on snapchat, haha so these are the ones I remembered to save while snapping.

Kris tattooed on the Saturday, I expected him to only do one tattoo and ended up doing four, so that kept me busy in the later hours, but we had loads of fun at our booth, even if it is a bit hectic working in such a smaller space than you are used to.

Dominika was tattooing on the Sunday, she ended up working all day on a massive calf piece, It was really cool watching that all come together, and I ended up getting a tattoo from DAP, out of Skingdom in Italy. All day Saturday I kept seeing the line drawing of this chameleon and I loved it so I ended up getting it. I also entered my leg in for best small black and grey by Dominika, which was an interesting experience as well.

All around it was a great show and I wish I saved more of my photos of other artists working but it was all so hectic I must have forgotten.

Dixon was also lovely and was repping my new stickers on his board!

Scottish Tattoo Convention Preparedness Week

The Scottish Tattoo Convention is this weekend and I am getting pretty excited, I have a wee bit of merch this year, I managed to have stickers printed and prints from one of my paintings for sale. The stickers came in yesterday on regular paper sized sheets so I had a fun night of cutting those wee guys out over and over and over. The painting I managed to sort out on Monday, but if I were more on the ball, I might have had a bit less of a frantic week this past week. I had been thinking about doing a painting for the convention since about November, but I only actually started painting it around the 14th of March, I know I am pretty good at procrastination right! But it worked out, I finished my painting and found a printers in Edinburgh to make me prints, so look out convention here I come!

We bit of my progress shots of the painting slowly but surely coming together.

Also a wee bit excited that I sad I would post and look at me here I am posting!

February Recap

February was also pretty darn busy, I got to do the pizza ghost and Totoro ghosts from my flash sheet from January and I got to do a couple out of my available drawings book as well, which I was really looking forward to doing, as well as a few walk ins. Its amazing the power that Facebook has to connect you to people. Nearly everyone of these was because of a post on Facebook, which makes me feel very humble that someone would see something I have made and reach out and collaborate and get something from me. Its a very cool feeling indeed.

Joe also trusted me to start blacking out his shoulder, which looks pretty alarming in the photo as we thought it looked pretty metal in the photo with all of the blood. I haven't got a before picture, but he had a very scarred owl underneath all of that black that he just didn't want to see anymore and simply didn't want lasered, so I covered it up, by now we have done a bit more on it and finished it off, just a touch up session to go. So possibly more on that soon.

The Scottish Tattoo Convention is coming up next week so hopefully I will have one more post in the mean time, but if I don't hopefully I will have some good stories to tell from that!

If you do feel so inclined my Facebook page is here, usually far more thoroughly updated than here but hopefully going forward that will change.
